The ones we love...

Life throws some great things at you, and at times, some not so great things... And for some reason, is it just me or does it seem like those not so great things come at the worst times? Maybe it's because we're never quite ready for those not so great things...

Well, now is one of those times. When one of the children has fallen ill. I should mention this child is one with 4 legs and covered with fur. But one of the children none the less. And why do I share this news that's not the best of the best. Because we all need to be prepared for the unexpected. How do you prepare for an illness in the family? In reality you can't. But what you can do is give love, energy and kindness to those you love ALL THE TIME. Communicate your feelings so that they know. Hugs? Communication? Fun times? That's up to you. And sure, you see your family every day and at times you may take that for granted. But let me ask you this, do you ever really know how long you have with them? With anyone??? Not that I have heard of yet...

So while the days may not always seem the brightest, while there may be other feelings from other situations weighing you down. Do your best to not let that take away from those that surround you with love each and every day. Do your best to share what you have for them as much as possible... And know, that you are loved...

Read a book!

No, really. Buy a book...

I know that e-books and e-readers are becoming the newest thing. But seriously. Can you tell me, honestly, that you don't just like picking up a book. I know I do. There's something personal about it. I love to read. Okay, let me re-phrase that. I love to read when it's something I enjoy. I can't pick up a book, start reading it, find it boring, and make it to the end. But... When I pick up a book and it just pulls me in, I SOOOO LOVE IT!

What is it that I love though? It's the story, the words, the places that I am pulled into. It is also THE BOOK! Picking it up, turning the pages. Feeling it, dog ear'ing the pages so I know where I left off. And honestly, I know that sharing books is a good thing to do, but I also love hanging onto them. Maybe it's because I feel like I have vested part of my life in them and there for want to keep them close. Maybe it's how they look on the book shelf. Or that there is generally a story that goes along with many of the books. I read that one (The Art of Racing In the Rain- A GREAT book!) on my way, while I was in and on my way back from Portland Oregon... I read that one because of this, or because of that.

Is it the need for instant gratification that has people sucked into the e-books? Is it that they don't have to leave their house to get it (I love going to the book store)? I just don't get it.

Why do books have to go away.... :o(

Allyson, John, Saratoga National Country Club and 2010!

January 2010, and the wedding season for me (TAB Photographic) has already begun! Soooo incredibly great because one thing I realized in the middle of this wedding day for Allyson and John is just how much I love what I do! It's something I always knew, but I didn't know how much I missed it over the past month and half away from the world of weddings.

So, now, looking down the first set of shots you see are barns. What gives, you're shooting a wedding. Well, I enjoy checking out the area pre-wedding. Winding down or should I say up for the day??? And this part of New York, Saratoga Springs. While it's surely about the horse racing world, there are sooo many great barns!!! Barns here and barns there. And here, just a couple samples of the barns to be had!

However I wasn't there to shoot barns. I was there to shoot a wonderful day as it unfolds...

Allyson, as cool as a cucumber... What ever that means. HAH!.... Full of smiles, possibly the random tear. But when it comes down to it, pretty darn calm coming from this bride!!!

And what makes a bride cooler than an ice cream sunday bar at her wedding. Something Allyson has dreamed of since she was a little girl. And if there's ever a day for dreams to become reality, a wedding day is surely it!!!

The flowers were just great (Jordan Baker - http://www.heavenscentfloralart.com/) really did rock it out! Elegant, classy but fun and beautiful... Some say flowers can't ever go wrong... But let me tell you, they can. But Jordan Baker and Heaven Scent Floral... Nope, nothing wrong there at all. They truly were beautiful!!!

The "I'do's" took place at Saratoga National Golf Course. A beautiful place!!! The details, the artwork, the staff. Everything was great and it showed in the smiles from everyone invited into their day!

Of course you CAN NOT forget about the bride and groom! The smiles and laughs that they share are just awesome! From the first time I met these two it showed that they truly were a perfect fit. And their smiles are sooooooo contagious! Maybe that can bottle them up and market them????

What it came down to, this dream day which became a reality went off with out a hitch. Other than Allyson and John Hitching up of course. The food, great, the music, kept the party rockin' and the energy??? SO INCREDIBLY HIGH!!!! I guess it's all part of why I love what I do!!!
