Moments. Moments in life..... As they say:
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we takebut by the moments that take our breath away"
Being a photographer and primarily shootings weddings, it's the moments that I witness and capture through so many days. And it doesn't seem to matter how many weddings I am invited into, these moments still take my breath away. Yes, even as the photographer, they take my breath away.
From someone viewing the bride for the first time to a tear rolling down a brides cheek as she dances with her father, forgetting that there is even anyone else in the room. Just the two of them, whispering to each other, smiling, laughing, crying......
I think this year is going to really be a year of moments, seeing more of them, capturing more of them and sharing more of them.
The transformation, where this beautiful woman - no longer is just a woman, but a bride. Her wedding gown going on, the final moments going from herself, to a bride to a beautiful wife. Those moments that will never happen again...... Not to be rushed, but instead taken in. The beauty of love, the excitement of the day, and the dreaming of the future.....
Or this moment, right below. After the ceremony, the bridal party walking off to the reception, the bride and groom alone, for the first time in the day and possibly all night. Where they can relish in the moment, it's no longer me or you, but "us".... Taking it in. Me hiding in the background and letting them just be.... One of the moments of the day where nothing else mattered but that instant. That second... That Moment.............. Where the world was theirs and theirs alone....................
Or this image below. The father seeing his daughter for the first time as a bride. I had cleared the entire house out and had her waiting, the tears rolled down. The energy built. And then..... Then they faced each other and it was like a tornado of pure energy... Completely magical...........
It's these moments that make what I do, magical..... Where I truly am extremely lucky to have this career path which I wouldn't give up for anything. Where I am not just a photographer, but a documenter, not just a shot taker, but a creator and not just another person with a camera trying to make "a buck" but an individual that feels each and every one of these moments unfolding through each wedding day I am lucky enough to be invited into.
You should live these moments on your day and I should let you have the ability to relive them for the rest of your future.....
